Ransomware Continues to Target Small to Mid-Size Businesses

In 2016, The World Economic Forum warned that ransomware attacks on small to mid-size business were on the rise. New types of malware are introduced every day and according to the Department of Justice’s Internet Crime Complaince Center, we have seen an exponential increase of over 1500% from the year 2000. This becomes more of a concern when you consider that many small to mid-size businesses have poor to no protection from these types of attacks.

This is where the importance of having a disaster recovery plan (DRP) comes in. As we discussed previously, a well-thought-out plan of how to approach an unplanned disaster for your business is something that all small, medium and large businesses should have in place. Here at Virtual Systems, we recommend having Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) be part of your DRP. If your business was to get hit by ransomware, the DRaaS provider you use would have a backup of all of your data, allowing your business to function as usual without losing any of your replicated information.

VSystems provides a range of backup and disaster recovery options to best meet your business needs and risk tolerance. Virtual Systems has tested and proven disaster recovery options, ranging from nightly data backups and High Availability systems to redundant servers and 15-minute data backups.
